What is the best kind of tablet (not a tablet PC) for creating drawings/concept art?

I’m really interested in creating digital concept art, and I’m looking forward to a Wacom tablet to kaufen.Ist a large or small better? Is it personal preference?

I prefer the Wacom 5.5×8.8 inch (medium) for a 15-21 inch screen. It is personal preference, but I bought the large first and found I had to do a lot more manipulation with my hands to get what I wanted, though if you wish to do greatly detailed drawings you might like the large better. I returned the first one I purchased for the smaller size. You might need to see them in person to decide. The larger ones do take up a lot of work space – the one I have is 10 x 14 inches

The Wacom tablets are the way to go. As far as size goes, it really is a personal preference. And here’s why.

The “active area”, or the area on the tablet you draw on, scales to the dimensions of your monitor. On a small tablet, you can access and move around most of your screen by only using movements of your wrist on the tablet. On a large you have to move your arm to cover the same area on the screen. I prefer using a medium because its that happy middle where I can get good pen control from being able to only have to use my wrist to draw, but also have enough tablet area that I’m having to worry about going of the edge of the tablet when doing long pen strokes.

The higher grade Wacoms display the image right on the tablet. that makes it feel more real since you’re looking right at what you’re working on.
